Aquatic Invasive Species Reporting Network

The Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Reporting Network is a part of the Massachusetts AIS Working Group, made up of a variety of state and federal agencies and nonprofit organizations. With leadership from the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management (CZM), this group works to prevent new introductions and manage the impact of AIS already established in the Commonwealth. For more information on the AIS Working Group, click the link below:

The Massachusetts AIS Reporting Network is designed to provide a quick reference for taxonomic questions and easy access to primary contacts when potential AIS are detected. The AIS Sighting Submission Form hosted on the MITIS system is an online form for reporting a new non-indigenous species introduction in Massachusetts. It is the single stop for citizens, field monitors, fishermen, or anyone else who would like to report an unfamiliar species, and can be used to report freshwater, marine, plant or animal species. The form is designed to facilitate the early detection and reporting of AIS to the Massachusetts AIS Reporting Network. Rapid reporting is key to promoting a rapid response to new introductions. The reporting form is a collaborative effort of the AIS Working Group and is hosted by MIT Sea Grant.

If you think you have identified a NEW Aquatic Invasive Species, take a picture and report it using the link below.  After providing your contact information and the location and date of your sighting, you can upload a photo.  By reporting your sighting with the online form you will provide important information to the AIS reporting network.
